Los
Angeles residents and community leaders
are celebrating the victory of Los Angeles
hotel workers.
Unionized workers overwhelmingly ratified
a new contract that puts an end to their
14-month dispute and achieves the goal of
aligning expiration dates in 2006 with other
union locals around the country. The deal
averted a lockout and ended the strike at
the Hyatt West Hollywood. More

Why
the Hotel Workers' Struggle
Matters to You
|
The
hotel workers' struggle is critically
important. Collective bargaining
is democracy in action at a
time when America needs it most.
We live in an era where corporations
have more control over our lives
and rarely do ordinary people
have an opportunity to come
together and shape the big decisions
that impact their lives and
indirectly affect all of us.
Blue collar, white collar or
no collar or at all, everyone
has a stake in defending workers'
rights. More
